Why is changing the oil on a Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Toyota, more expensive than changing the oil on a Honda?

I never really see Benz's at a Jiffy Lube and I heard that they take those cars in to a special place to get their oil changed and they are costly. Why is changing the oil on a Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Toyota, more expensive than changing the oil on a Honda? All I can think of is that maybe the oil filter on those cars is tough to access or is a very specialized size.

Otherwise, I don't believe it's any more expensive to change the oil regardless of what kind of car it is.Why is changing the oil on a Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Toyota, more expensive than changing the oil on a Honda?
its mostly the luxury cars likes mercedes benz and bmw that have that problem. ive heard that you need a special tool to remove the drain plug or something like that. also everything is terribly expensive on those cars i would never buy one of those in my life even if i had the money. a lot of stuff on those cars take special tools to replace and thats the way they make money is by making you have to go back to the dealership and have them work on it because their the only ones that have the tools required for the job and screw you.Why is changing the oil on a Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Toyota, more expensive than changing the oil on a Honda?Hi there,

It is just another rip-off. Oil has to meet ASTM specs and any oil that meets those specs is the same as any other oil that meets the same specs.

Any part or service for one of the expensive cars is overcharged because they can get away with it.

Wealthy people usually are overcharged for any service they receive (same reason as above).

If you want to save money you can change the oil yourself. Just buy a service manual and follow the instructions.

Hope this helps,

they all recommend fully synthetic oil for best engine performance and reliability audi and BMW also use long life synthetic oil in some cars giving a two year or three year gap between oils changes, I suspect that one reason domestic cars have so many problems is the continued use of low grade oils, especially in the north these are quick to sludge and slow to circulate in winter leading to premature engine failure, a 0-40 fully synthetic oil will protect the engine in a wyoming winter 200 times better than a standard 10-30 or 10-40 oilWhy is changing the oil on a Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Toyota, more expensive than changing the oil on a Honda?I owned a 1999 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8L Turbo for 8 years, I took it to Midas for oil changes just like everybody else.
