you should check the link between the engine and the exhaust pipe

because sometimes due to excessive carbon build-up the joint ruptures or starts leaking and it needs some welding or a new joint to fix that problem.

or maybe the exhaust pipe has some kind of hole in it somewhere close to the engine



if there is not any problem there, check the gasket (if you experience any kind of over-heating)
