The Audi dealer wants to charge 1,700 for 75,000 mile maintenance. Is this a good price?

Assuming a non-dealer shop would be cheaper, how much should they charge? Any other options besides selling? Thanks! The Audi dealer wants to charge 1,700 for 75,000 mile maintenance. Is this a good price?Get a detailed invoice of what has to be done. Some items are replaced in order to keep the car in top shape. Like for example, an O sensor before goes bad or send wrong signals. They are not cheap though. Labor is the killer. An independent shop is cheaper, but do they know what has to be done? That is the thing. On the Audi VW dealers, they might have some items that might still working fine, but is a reliability and accuracy issue that has to be replaced. If you drove the crap out of your car, part of the inspection are suspension parts, they are expensive to fix, other is the Timing Belt if you have one. If you do not replace it, might break and you end up with a destroyed engine that cost way more.

If you ever get the chance to live in Germany and take a car from here, most cars does not pass inspection. German "DOT" is very meticulous and picky with the cars on their roads. Rust is not allowed on the cars. So is pretty normal that MB, BMW, VW Audi they have a rigorous tight inspections and calls for parts replacements to ensure a vehicle in top shape.

That is why they are such a great cars, but they do come at a price. The Audi dealer wants to charge 1,700 for 75,000 mile maintenance. Is this a good price?
Hi,

This sounds quite expensive. Ask them to give you a detailed overview of the things they want to perform.

As far as i know the inspection should not cost more than 800-1000 depending on how much they find.

Best,

Simon

also, 75K is really just your timing belt and water pump. should be about 750
It depends on the type of car you have and what they are doing. Keep in mind that a dealership is going to be 30% more than an independent shop. Go online and find a tech that works on Audi's, I use to be a service writer and we saved alot of people a lot of money$$ Look around. The Audi dealer wants to charge 1,700 for 75,000 mile maintenance. Is this a good price? It sounds quite reasonable. The price really depends on the Audi model. But the price is about correct, assuming that your warranty has expired. Audi parts are extremely expensive, as they have to all be shipped here from Germany. Also, I would highly recommend getting the vehicle fixed by the dealer, as it is not wise lending such an expensive and high-tech car to someone who has not worked on it so often, and more importantly is not highly trained to specifically work on this specific model. The choices is really up to you, but know this, if you are to give another mechanic to service the car, he/she may break the car and still charge you for the "service", and take no liability of breaking the car.The Audi dealer wants to charge 1,700 for 75,000 mile maintenance. thats a little high. it should be around 1200 if they are only doing the timing belt and water pump. if you are getting some other repairs too than it might not be bad for a dealer quote. if you find a good independent mechanic you can cut that down buy 1/3 at least. i had my water pump and timing belt done for about $500 when the dealer wanted $1150. I also had my alternator replaced at 130K for $300 when the dealer wanted $800. if you own German cars you NEED to find a good Indy.
It is expensive, but you should expect much higher prices with German cars and luxury cars.

It should be more around $1,000.The Audi dealer wants to charge 1,700 for 75,000 mile maintenance. Is this a good price?
Maybe the timing belt has not been replaced as yet, if it has not then maybe this is why the quote is so high.

As you have not stated the currency this is in, and more importanly which model of Audi you have, it`s difficult to comment if this is to high.
Yeah, thats about right for an Audi dealer, if you go to a smaller garage you can probably get it for 1200-1500. Its so expensive because the parts that are being changed out are a little hard to get to.
