How much should I tip this Chinese take-out delivery person?

okay my mom and I are having an argument. I ordered chinese food a total of $17 to be delivered to my home. The weather is fine and the delivery is free.

So, I wanted to tip the guy $3 ... thats about 15%

she is saying give one or two dollars.

what do you think? How much should I tip this Chinese take-out delivery person?
$3.00 would be about right, since it's a little over 15%. He's not getting a delivery charge, and he has to pay for gas.
I tip them at least $5... you can't even pay for gas with a $3 dollar tip %26gt;.%26lt;

Why does my Chinese food always look like turd?

every time i get Chinese take-out, delivery, or go to a buffet the chicken is always hard, thick, and small turd-shaped? it looks that way from every single chinese restaurant. One time i went to a chinese restaurant and sat in and the food was really fresh and good, but why does the chicken always look and feel weird and clumpy? Why does my Chinese food always look like turd?
You're actually schizophrenic and seeing things. In a past life you were a Chinese servant Cinderella type who had to fetch buckets of water, rub the aged emperor's corned %26amp; flaking feet, and just before bed, you had to behead the royal chickens. In order to evade this sickening and onerous task, one night you cleverly substituted the chicken parts with turds from the royal chamber pots. The next day, the Chinese chefs used your turd substitutes, killing off the entire village. You suffer from schizophrenic delusions brought about by pent up guilt from your past life. Better stick to Thai food.
because you have made poor choices in restaurants. If you can't trust what you get for take out how can you ever go there to eat in?Why does my Chinese food always look like turd?
Chinese chickens are retarded
One question, why do you keep ordering chicken if it reminds you of a turd? Why does my Chinese food always look like turd?
U went in to one of those the cook is learned by garbage in and garbage out.
Probably because it might be one!!
It ain't chicken darling. Meow.

Could use some help with ordering some Chinese food?

I am in the mood for some Chinese food, and am about to order food for delivery from a local restaurant. I have anxiety when it comes to speaking over the phone, so i'm trying to figure everything out before I call. Online it shows that the menu is numbered, so would I state the number of the food I want or the actual food?Could use some help with ordering some Chinese food?
State the number first and parts of the order.

"Hello, may I take your order?"

"Um... yea I will have...the #2 Low Mein, #7 Egg Roll, and the #5 Sweet ans Sour Pork"

"Ok so that was #2, #7, and, #5?"

"Yea"

"ETC"
Id say that you have been on there website and seen that they have numbers for everything so then i would say just the numbers or else you could have a shock if they thought you said 50 spring rollsCould use some help with ordering some Chinese food?
you can just give the number - that will make it easier for you to order and you hopefully wont be as nervous because some of those names can be hard to pronounce!
You give the number on the menu. There are a lot of people like you that is why the items are numbered.Could use some help with ordering some Chinese food?

I just ordered chinese food. should I tip the delivery guy?

do I have to tip when theres already a 2 dollar delivery fee?I just ordered chinese food. should I tip the delivery guy?
The delivery fee does not go to the driver. Tip at least 10% of the total bill
Yes, yes, yes. The charge probably goes to the restaurant, not him, so if you didn't tip you'd be stiffing him. I really don't know for sure, though. My friend delivers and I know from what he says that the drivers have to buy their own gas and stuff, on top of getting paid a very small amount per hour. With tip jobs, the per hour pay usually just covers taxes off the employess tips. The paychecks are barely anything. That's why it's always important to tip. I waitress and maybe it's different, but when we work off of tips alone every dollar we don't make is a very big deal.I just ordered chinese food. should I tip the delivery guy?
I always tip the delivery person. That $2.00 delivery fee goes to the company not the delivery person. Please try to remember these people are using their own vehicles, paying for their own gas and insurance
The delivery fee goes to the restaurant or company. Tip the guy a few bucks. I'm sure he would appreciate it. Every little bit counts especially how the economy is today. I just ordered chinese food. should I tip the delivery guy?
The fee goes to the restaurant, not to the delivery dude. Give him a couple of dollars. He'll appreciate it a lot.
I would tip him another $2-3, because he probably does not get the delivery fee, it is probably more for the gas.
It you got it to tip him why not.
If you want to be nice you should.

Do you trust delivery Chinese food?

No you cannot, because it takes them an hour and a half to get three blocks up the street, then have a crack head hand it to you at the door.If your a risk taker go for it, but it's like trusting the tap water or any countries goverment.Do you trust delivery Chinese food?
Not delivered no,but in a restaurant that I know yes I trust the food...
All the time. I don't mind as long as it tastes good and doesn't ravage my insides.Do you trust delivery Chinese food?
I put my trust in the stuff which makes ALL food taste good
lol, why only chinese food? HAha....

it can happen to any food

i like chinese food. it's great.Do you trust delivery Chinese food?
I wish I had Delivery chinese food here. I trust it as much as I trust buffet food...????
I used to love the stuff but then I got what I thought was food poisoning from this one place but no one else got sick. Later I tried Chinese food at another and the same thing happened but no one else got sick. So now I just stay away from it just in case I'm allergic to it.
chinese is my weakness so yeah.
no way nuthin against the chinese ppl

    i just hate chinese food ( =
Yes. Chinese food usually only put 3 - 4 shrimps if you order shrimp food. They load it with so many vegetables that they might as well call it vegetable kung pao. I love vegetables but

I want to taste some shrimp too.
My motto is trust no one. And for all I know they're sneaking subconscious communist messages into their fortune cookies.
Chinese food deliveries are like men. You just have to find a good one you can trust to deliver as promisedl.
I do not like Chinese food. But my parent's and sister do.
yeah, there is an excellent Chineese place down the street that does not deliver, but I've had it delivered in other places many times, and I ain't dead yet...

If there is something bad about it that I don't know about, I would prefer to keep it that way...

Online or over the phone food delivery. Pizza, Chinese, Mexican etc.?

You see I have this business idea and I want to know what you think about it.

It would basically be food by delivery, from any restaurant. Pizza, Chinese, Mexican, Indian and so on. You could order online or over the phone, all the restaurants and menus would be online or you could get a menu of all of the restaurants participating at any of their locations.

How it would work is you send in your order, we send your order to the restaurant, they make it, we pick it up and deliver it to you.

The nice thing is that you would only have to remember one number or website, and for example even a nice Italian restaurant would deliver right to your door

What do you think?Online or over the phone food delivery. Pizza, Chinese, Mexican etc.?
can i say pizza and chineseOnline or over the phone food delivery. Pizza, Chinese, Mexican etc.?
I love Indian, Chinese, Pizza, and Mexican. This is a great idea.

But in my town they had this and the delivery fee was so high it did not work out poppet.

If you can figure it out so it was cost effective--more power to you.

I would actually like some red curry sauce over some chicken and rice and a small side of antipasto with a nice vinaigrette.

    That would make my night.

What is a proper tip for food delivery?

What is a proper tip to give for food delivery such as pizza, diners, and chinese food? I usually give around $2 or round up to the closest two dollars. What do you think is appropriate? Thanks. What is a proper tip for food delivery?
i usually give 3 bucks and they all seem really happy with it.
    Well consider this:

They make minimum wage, if that. The delivery charge is sometimes theirs, sometimes the restaurant keeps 1/2 of it and the drivers use their own personal vehicles. Keep in mind the distance from the restaurant to your house, considering gas which they have to pay out of pocket. If you usually give $2 tip to a pizza delivery guy that comes from 2 blocks away, it's not fair for the chinese delivery guy who drives 4 miles to you just for the same $2.

I personally always tip 20% of the total bill or a little more, like I would a waitress. They went through the same trouble like a server, if not more, getting the food to you. What is a proper tip for food delivery?
    $2.00
Home delivery for anything, we give $2.00What is a proper tip for food delivery?
It depends on whether or not they charge for the delivery. If it's a free delivery $2 is good. But a LOT of places in my area add a delivery charge of as much a $2.50. That is how the drivers get paid. I usually only give them a buck.
standard tipping calls for 15-20%, but with pizza and the such, I normally do $1 per item
when we order from work we all throw a dollar the drivers way. but at home i usually give a dollar and change to two dollars. if the bill was 18.64 then he/ she would get 1..36

Delivery Chinese is a far throw from proper Chinese food. It's like junk food, just that it's so-called Chinese. I've never heard of chicken chow mein until I visited the US one day and saw it on the menu of some Chinese take-out place.

How much should I tip a food delivery driver, ie pizzza/chinese food?

Don't think in set amounts, Consider the attitude. the Promptness, the service, then go from there. You don't owe them nothing. You tip them as a thanx. How much should I tip a food delivery driver, ie pizzza/chinese food?
10-15%. Tips make up at least 2/3 of a driver's income. Drivers incur many costs in the performance of their jobs that are simply not reimbursed by their employers. If you do not wish to tip, then just go pick up your pizza.

Usually there's a delivery charge attached to the subtotal. The driver gets that. I always give another $2-$5 depending on the order total. How much should I tip a food delivery driver, ie pizzza/chinese food?
    1 yen
We always give $2 as a standard tip for us being too lazy to go out. In a restaurant we tip 20%. But the driver didn't get us drinks or more napkins or anything. But if it's a large order like when the kids are over and we get 5 pizzas and wings and this and that, then the tip goes up.How much should I tip a food delivery driver, ie pizzza/chinese food?
Depends on how much you order anywhere from 2 to 10 bucks!!!!
    Maybe, 5 dollars
The current standard for tips at restuarants and with delivery is 10% of the amount you paid, but i also agree that it should also depend on if you had bad service.
i am a server and from what i understand it would be at least 10-15% of the total bill. i think the national tip percentage is 18% but sometimes thats too much.
Depends on where they are coming from. I dont usually use a percentage for a delivery because it usually isnt any extra work to carry three pizzas as oppose to one. Most pizza places now have a delivery charge included. If it didnt take too long to get my food to me then I usualy give 2-3 more dollars on top of the charge.
Most of those drivers are making min. wage and live on tips. They drive their own cars and have to pay for their own gas. That said, tip for service. If you know that the start location is half-way across town you may want to throw in an extra buck for mileage that you would have spent getting it yourself. If it is right next door to your apartment complex and it took them like 40 seconds to get to your door, then no big deal. Most people that are delivering food have some other things going on in their lives, such as school, another job, 5 kids to feed, etc. They do it because they have to for the most part, not because they love it. If they show up on time and with a good attitude, reward them nicely. It's your food they're carrying. Don't feel obligated to tip for bad or rude service, especially if you'll never use them again. I use a 10% rule for average service, more or less what you asked for but had to wait a while. 15% for good service and attitude, prompt and exactly what you asked for. 20% for exceptional service, such as showing up with complimentary goodies, bringing your newspaper to the door, handing you extra condiments and a menu with coupons for next time, etc.
    3-10 dollars

  • Would you rather have take out food from a nice Restaurant or Delivery from Pizzashop/Chinese Food? ?

Wanting to know if you had your choice for anything delivery what would it be and Why?

For Example, Do you wish that Restaurant Chains would deliver or would you still get the regular Pizza Delivery?

What Foods would you like to see Delivered?Would you rather have take out food from a nice Restaurant or Delivery from Pizzashop/Chinese Food? ?
    dine in not delivery,

cause may be you need more food or some extra condiment or just need to be served as a king? who knows? say if I'm getting wrong! kindda hungry now!
pizza deleviry i go for.Would you rather have take out food from a nice Restaurant or Delivery from Pizzashop/Chinese Food? ?
i wish they all delivered. i hate eating out. i prefer to get take out, rent a movie, and lounge around the house.
delivery. i'm down with chinese food. i honestly think that mcdonald's or wendy's or something should work out some kind've delivery bc sometimes i'm just too lazy to make something and not in the mood to spend a fortune.Would you rather have take out food from a nice Restaurant or Delivery from Pizzashop/Chinese Food? ?
Take out food. Why? Because I'll send my wife to get it, so it would be like delivery.

Edit: Didn't see the secondary question: Good question, I wondered why other companies don't do this. But why not other fast food companies: I.E. McDonalds, BK, Wendy's, WHite Castle? It would be interesting to see what happens. I know america would be the fatest country in the world...oh wait we are.
no because then i would eat it more and get fatter and fatter until i burst into a million tiny pieces... oh think of the mess...
i like sitting down in a resturaunt but it would be nice if places like chilis delivered
I much prefer to eat out. The fine dining experience would be lost on take out, also the whole experience of the food presentation would be lost and the food would not be fresh.

I order takeout for a reason, quick and fast, don't really expect anything special so would remain with the pizza option given the choice between the two and leave the nice food for when I eat out.
Take out please! Lol. Hmm...I'd like sushi and indian food to be delivered!
It all depends on my mood at the time that the choice is offered because I like all of the choices but there are just times when I'm in the mood for one over the others.

I would rather get take out from a regular restaurant chain as opposed to a fast food restaurant chain.
Well, my top pick (most of the time) is to dine-in and just relax there. Secondary, if I felt like getting take-out but having it at home, I would just pick it up. It is cheaper (no delivery fee or tip) and faster than getting it delivered and you know it is hot and fresh. Thirdly, I would get delivery if the carryout section was closed. I just don't like to get delivery. So, any foods being offered to be delivered doesn't really bother me! :)

    Tip for chinese food delivery?

i usually dont tip them at all because they throw the food at me when i open the door and i dont know if they add the tip to the bill also they always have an attitude this is from newhere i order fromTip for chinese food delivery?
    I always tip . at least 15% , usually 20%..

They ALL have attitudes ? hrmmm seems like you might be giving them a reason to have one. Maybe keeping them waiting or not putting your light on or handing them a hundred dollar bill for a ten dollar order or because you don't tip lol. =)

I know delivery people are always in a hurry, but I don't think I ever dealt with one with a crappy attitude.
they just seem to have an attittude because they dont speak much english...a lot of delivery people work on tips...there salary is only $3.13 an hour...you should always give them a little something...i usually tip 15% of my totalTip for chinese food delivery?
I usually tip them 15%-20%. They work hard to deliver the food. Since I am only in highschool I sometimes order out with my friends for lunch and for tips I just tell them to keep the change becuse they deliver no matter the amount that you order.
I usually tip delivery drivers regardless their attitude. (It's hotter than hell during Texas summers... I would be bitter, too!)

I tip delivery drivers based on the assumption that there is an expense associated with driving out to my house, and the assumption that the restaurant is not adequately covering those costs.Tip for chinese food delivery?
Tip based on their attitude. I deliver pizzas and if I get an attitude or am not kind/courteous I wouldn't expect a tip. If they don't treat you with respect don't tip.
I usually give at least three dollars. But if you are getting a bad attitude from the place you order from I would seriously just consider ordering from another chinese food place, you must have more than one?
i tip according to my order - 30$ or more , like 5$. some places charge for delivery so i'll deduct that from a tip (this goes for pizza deliveries too!) i have great chinese delivery and the guys always give me extra, so i treat them great whenever i can.

I always get egg drop soup!! How do you make it?

    Cold sesame noodles

Sweet and sour chicken hold the sauce-I use good soy or hoisin mixture.

I love broccoli and egg fried rice, no other veggies.

I like the shrimp fried rice and the shrimp egg rolls.
Fried pork chop wth rice...What is your favorite delivery Chinese carry out food?
I love shrimp spring rolls...much better than egg rolls in my opinion. Next I like wonton soup which is a good dish to split with one other person so you don't fill up too much. Main courses, lemon chicken (with a sauce similar to the orange chicken ball sauce but lemony and yellow in color), singapore noodles (fine noodles with bits of shrimp and pork in a spicy sauce) and good old beef with broccoli. What I love to do is meet with a friend, have a spring roll each, one order of wonton soup and then splitting a combo plate for one....which provides plenty of food for both of us. Delicious....I'm hungry now.....
    Mongolian beef and fried wontons.....
    Almond Chicken w/ White Rice

    Shrimp Toast

Moo Goo Gai Pan w White Rice

    Wonton Soup

    Crab Rangoons
Shrimp rolls, szechuan wontons, steamed broccoli with garlic sauce, house special fried rice, General Tso's chicken, and another house special; crispy fish.

How much do you tip for Chinese food?

How much would you tip for Chinese food delivery, if the total cost is $12.21 ?How much do you tip for Chinese food?
Chinese delivery wouldn't get a different tip from any other delivery. I usually do 20% for a delivery, or just do $2 or $3 bucks if I don't feel like ding the math and I know that will be more.
$3How much do you tip for Chinese food?

    I tip 5.00 regardless.

Do I have to tip the driver for Chinese food delivery if the restuarant is charging me $4 CDN delivery charge?

yes, drivers live off their tips. and a few cents goes for gas every trip they make. many drivers make less than minimal wage. and have to make up the other half with tips. restaurants tell drivers for tax purposes they r only paid so much because they cant account for how much in tips should be taxedDo I have to tip the driver for Chinese food delivery if the restuarant is charging me $4 CDN delivery charge?
I do. When I get pizza delivered they charge a $2.50 delivery fee. But I still tip a couple of bucks. It seems like a double tip but, what the heck.
In my opinion, no. They are getting paid for gas mileage.Do I have to tip the driver for Chinese food delivery if the restuarant is charging me $4 CDN delivery charge?
You dont have to but it's always nice to tip the driver. Alot of food delivery people count on their tips cause their wages are usually low.
noDo I have to tip the driver for Chinese food delivery if the restuarant is charging me $4 CDN delivery charge?
that's completley up to you, but I would at least tip a buck just to be nice.
Yes, even though the restaurant charges you $4 the majority of that goes to the restaurant. Usually they give the driver $1 out of that. I would tip the driver ~$3. It does seem like double-dipping, but when the restaurant charges a fee it doesn't all go to the driver.
I was just talking to a delivery driver about this exact same thing. The restaurant charges a 5.00 delivery charge but can you believe that they don't get that. I thought this was to make sure they get a tip. The guy told me he only gets a 1.50 out of it. I think that is such a rip off. With the price of gas what it is right now. I don't think that is very fair. Only in America.
Free delivery is the norm around Ottawa. I don't think I'd tip on top of a delivery charge unless the weather was really miserable. I've tipped $10 in ice storms!
With most places that deliver, the delivery charges goes to the restaurant, not the driver. The driver is basically just a waiter. Sure, the company pays mileage and stuff, but let's be realistic about this. Most companies are CHEAP when it comes to paying their employee's anything! The drivers depend on the tips, especially now that gas prices have gone through the roof! You should always tip the delivery person, just like you would tip the waiter if you went to a restaurant.
How would you answer this question if you were the driver?

Chinese food and tip for delivery?

I don't like sweet food at all. What type of Chinese food is not sweet at all? Oh and how much would you tip for delivery if the total cost is about $10?Chinese food and tip for delivery?
Most dishes come in sauce that is default, but if you ask they will make it however you want for no charge. Most dishes arnt sweet to begin with in my opinion, my favs are terriake beef, seseme/general tsos (which is very sweet), beef mai fun (add hotsauce), hot+sour broth, fried wontons, shrimp/chicken w brocoli

    about tipping

10-20 % of ten dollars is enough money to drive a vehicel 2-4 miles, if your house is further than 2-4 miles round trip the driver loses money and you stiffed him.

It cost drivers 45 cents per mile to operate their cars, so pay them for that (traveling both ways) then tack on a few extra bucks for their time.

On extremely far deliveries the driver will be investing as much as 6 or 7 dollars fo his own resources bringin you your food, regarless of how much your order costs, if you dont pay him back for it and then some, he will not only be wasting his time, but he will be losing money.

If you are unsure, just ask the driver what he thinks is fair, but dont be surprised if the amount is as high as 5-15 dollars. Hes not tryign to screw you over, thats just what it cost on very far off deliveries, and what it woudl cost you if you did it yourself.

hot/sour soup maybe, shredded pork in garlic sauce I agree w an earlier answerer garlic sauce is ur solution its just perfect n as for tip try like 3 to 5 $
    gas is $4.70 here

    I do not order delivery...

It drives the price of all their products "overhead " and the driver get a wage the restaurant pays for the gas and you pay for that also.. TIP ??? today,,..psst the driver gets a free meal too...

what! your lucky dont knock it. i get nowt but my order.
I know its highly aggravating! When you order a Chinese or Indian food delivery and you get a free bottle of wine ?
You're complaining??! They don't send you a free bottle of wine in the States with a Chinese food delivery order. Nor can you order a paid-for bottle of wine with your Chinese delivery order. I don't think it would be legal for them to offer it, most likely, in any state -- they fear underage kids will get alcohol that way, I guess.

(I suppose the next question is: If they DID send a free bottle of wine, would it be any GOOD. Don't know the answer to that one.)
I have never, in over 20 years of enjoying take aways, received a free bottle of wine. You get a wonderful free gift and complain - how ungrateful! Give me the wine if you don't like it! I don't even get a free can of coke!

Hey, don't grumble! It's better than a kick in the teeth, isn't it??

Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard? & a Q about playing in the snow?

...assuming the restaurant is open, of course.

I know this isn't the section for this but I'd like answers from people I would consider my peers, instead of a bunch of kids playing on the computer. I usually get the best answers in here.

It seems to me that the Chinese food restaurant I usually order my delivery from is ALWAYS open and delivering. Would you order a food delivery (from any place) knowing full well that the delivery person would be putting themself in imminent danger.

2nd question - if you did order food and the delivery person got into an accident on his way to your home, would you feel guilty or just see it as an "oh well, it was his choice to work today, I just utilized the service being provided" kind of thing?

OK, and to make this legit for this newborn and baby section; how long do you/would you allow your little one to play outside in the snow before making them come in and warm up for a while?Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard? %26amp; a Q about playing in the snow?
Sounds like you're stuck on the east coast! Whew, it looks really messy out there.

I think it depends on how bad the snow is. If there is no way that it would possibly be safe for them to be on the roads, i.e. complete whiteout conditions, roads not plowed, their delivery cars have no 4 wheel drive or snow tires (if you happened to know that somehow), I don't think I would do that. But at the same time, I don't think you could be held liable in court if they were to leave and get in an accident. Personally, I would definitely feel guilty anyway, even if the law is on my side. If I absolutely could not stand a single thing besides Chinese for dinner (say, if I were pregnant - oh wait I am :) see I found another way to relate this to the pregnancy/newborn and baby section!), I might make my husband do pick-up in our 4 wheel drive chevy truck, unless it was truly terrible and I seriously thought something bad would happen. Ugh what a horrible thought!

I would let them play outside in the snow for a very long time. With me checking up on them, and there being lots of breaks. It also depends on how old they are. If they are five or younger, I would probably want to stay with them the whole time, so it would be a lot shorter than if they were eight, and I could trust them in the backyard for a while. But I would check on them every 15 minutes, and have them come inside to warm up a little when they were too cold, or needed some hot cocoa, probably every hour- hour and a half. Snow is SO much fun for kids!!!!!

    Stay warm!
No, I wouldn't order in the middle of a blizzard. I would feel horrible if the driver got into an accident while bringing my food because I didn't feel like cooking for myself.

I usually let my 16 month old play outside in the snow until her face is turning red or she wants to come in, whichever comes first.Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard? %26amp; a Q about playing in the snow?
Yep, I would order. I would never consider myself guilty or liable for his success or failure at reaching his destination as I am not in control of the weather, the roads, his vehicle, or his proficiency at driving in bad weather.

I would however give him a very big tip. ^_^
If it was blizzarding that badly then the restaurant would not be doing delivery so yes, I would order.

Usually Elyse is ready to come in before me, she doesn't like being in the cold, she's only almost 2.Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard? %26amp; a Q about playing in the snow?
errm it would kinda suck if u know that the worker crashed just because u couldnt make food -.- and kids dont really remember stuff so like 45 minutes
The way I see it, delivery drivers, taxi drivers, etc, realize that their job goes on in all weather. You always have the choice to call into work. You can always apply for a job inside the restaurant cooking or washing dishes or whatever. What if the delivery driver gets in an accident on a sunny day because the sun was in his eye? Or on a rainy day when his car spun out while hydroplaning? What if your delivery food fell off his seat and he bent down to get it? You are not responsible for his driving skills in any weather. As long as you are tipping extra well for the delivery in bad weather, if the restaurant is open, order from it.

Our car is in the shop and last night I called every taxi service in town to see if one of them would drive 30 min to pick my husband up from work. We had basically a white out on the freeway with all the blowing snow and every single company CHOSE to say no. Even the privately owned ones said no. They chose not to work last night. The delivery driver can also choose not to work. We live in a free country, we have the right to say no.

On the other hand, if you don't order from them, they "risked their lives" to come to work just to make no money because no one ordered from them. What if they get sent home early because its a slow day and die on the way home? What if your call for food would have saved them? You really can't dwell on this or you will drive yourself insane!

And my daughter just cries in the snow, so she won't play out there.
    I would order yes.

An individual can say no to working conditions if they feel as though they'd be put in harms way.

If they got into an accident I think I would feel bad for them but not beat myself up over it. They had the option to decline the work that's provided for them. At least in Canada they have this option available to them.

It depends on the weather. If it's -50 (which we get for maybe a month and half during the winter season) then I would say play inside. If it's -20 then 15-20 minutes. -10+ then 30-45 minutes.

Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard?

...assuming the restaurant is open, of course.

2nd question - if you did order food and the delivery person got into an accident on his way to your home, would you feel guilty or just see it as an "oh well, it was his choice to work today, I just utilized the service being provided" kind of thing?Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard?
No I wouldn't order delivery takeout during a blizzard. If I wanted to get something, I'd drive there myself. Or I'd make do with what was in the house.
I might attempt it if the restaurant was open. Might not be a good idea, but when weather is bad many don't want to go out. Of course, most restaurants are closed as well, but if it were open I might order.

I don't know what kind of tires they have for delivery as to 4 wheel, etc.

If the person got into an accident I'd feel bad about it just as I'd feel bad about anyone who was hurt. However, I am not sure I'd feel guilty as it was a business open for business and I was helping the business and the employee who may have needed the money.

I am not sure I'd order at all but I'd not expect them to be open either. yet if that was what I wanted, I might call them to see.Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard?
you may well place a order whether it would be delivered is open to question . will the restaurant want to risk it if he does the onus is on him .

if he thinks its not possible he should say so or ring you back.

if he did send the order and the driver had a bump the onus is still on the driver .

so your not to blame either way
no, i have respect for people who work at food places. and im not that rude to come in or order food during those days when they shouldn't be really working at all but greedy people keep buying things. i just sit at home until the weather gets better. and i don't want anybody out in that bad weather.Would you order delivery Chinese food in the middle of a terrible blizzard?
If there was nothing else to eat and/or you really wanted chinese food I would order. Just give him a big tip and thank him/her. And I would be sad but that is their job to deliver food. If they didn't want you to order food they would be closed. Your thinking about this too hard
If I needed food and if they were willing to deliver it, I sure would!

But I ALWAYS-ALWAYS-ALWAYS give them a good tip (they BRING FOOD to my house!) and it would be even more in a snowstorm.

I would leave the decision up to the delivery person anyway.
I may be an ****** but I not only would I have.

If he had an accident and didn't get my food there on time I would still give him a tip.

I also wouldn't be upset if I called and they said, "Sorry no deliveries because of the weather."

Life is or at least should be about taking personal responsibility.
If I wanted it I would order it, and if the delivery person had an accident, I wouldn't know, I would just be wondering where my order was.
    Share the Chinese food?
of course. you are paying outrageous prices for DELIVERY, not for their crappy rice.
Yes, I'd order along with thinking "That guy's gotta be crazy to be driving around in this stuff."
Well what do I know? I'm just a kid playing on the computer.
I would order. It's their decision whether to deliver or not.
No I wouldnt........And lets hope (James) above gets his next meal spat on by the whole takaway staff.
I would only order it If I knew it was one of the above a...holes!!!!!!
I went through this same thing in December 2009. It was the first night of a two day blizzard and I had the mean munchies.. I knew that the Chinese place that I order from is open very late and willing to go out of their way to deliver to my house (about 10 minutes away.) I ended up calling and they were open. They took my order and then called back within two-three minutes and told me that it was too far. I guess they used their own judgment on that one, haha. I would feel bad if the person got into an accident but I feel if they are unable to perform the duties that their job require during a blizzard, they should just close their doors or stop service.
I would have no problem ordering it, and I would have no problem laughing my *** off if he got in a car accident and died on the way to my house

You know the mustard that comes with Chinese delivery food?

what do people put that on?You know the mustard that comes with Chinese delivery food?
Anything you want to put it on, me I like it on sweet and sour pork.
Whatever you want to give a little extra heat and flavor to. I add some to poorly seasoned wonton soup. Also to chow mein, and mix some into duck sauce to dip egg rolls in.You know the mustard that comes with Chinese delivery food?
I like it on eggrolls, crab rangoon, fried wontons...basically anything deep-fried. You can add it to just about any dish for a little kick, though, just like you would add hot-sauce.
I rub it on my feet when they are cold works pretty darn good and when you take your socks off at bedtime WoweeYou know the mustard that comes with Chinese delivery food?
i like to put it on eggrolls and fried rice
    I don't like it.
Oooh no, it's great! It's not mustard you donut , it's wasabi and it's an asian horseradish.
You have the soy sauce in a little ramekin . Then you have the pickled ginger. Dip the sushi in that together and dot some wasabi on the sushi then eat, or squirt it in the ramekin as to make the soy spicy. I like it when it tickles and heat your sinuses for a few long seconds, after you realise it wasn't too bad after all. Haha.
That's Japanese sushi, it's called wasabi

In Chinese it's 鑺ヨ荆 pronounced (gai laht) in cantonese.
It's disgusting. The lady said it was spicy and well it wasn't spicy it felt like I was getting poisoned.

How much should you tip a chinese person chinese food delivery coming to 12.06?

If they charge for delivery I won't tip as much, but if delivery is free if you spend enough, I'll usually give them $2 or $3. Off topic; I hate having to sign a receipt at Salsaritas or Qdoba with the tip line. Its your job to make and hand me my food, you didn't do anything to deserve a tip so stop asking, hahaHow much should you tip a chinese person chinese food delivery coming to 12.06?
Thats real cheap! Was the convenience alone not worth a couple dollars? He drove his car, used his gas to bring you your food! You couldn't just give him $15? Seriously, what is he gonna do with $1.24? Thats not even half a gallon of gas, I drive a jeep and get 15 mpg. Even if you lived close the drive from the restaurant to your house and back is worth more than $1.24, If I were you I wouldn't order from their again....You might get a little "cream of sum yung guy" in your food. How much should you tip a chinese person chinese food delivery coming to 12.06?
I would give him $15 and be done with it.

-eHow much should you tip the chinese food delivery guy?
for $18.50, maybe a $1 or $2. the less the cost of the chinese food, the more you can tip the deliverer. judging by 3 blocks, i say give the deliverer a dollar or two.How much should you tip the chinese food delivery guy?
The only person that you should ask about how much to tip a waiter would be another waiter/waitress. People like the convenience of having their food delivered. Make sure your waiter knows you appreciate him. I would tip at least 20%. good luck. How much should you tip the chinese food delivery guy?
I round it up to the increment of $5. Since it is $18.50, the next increment woud be $20.

If it was raining/snowing, i would add a dollar on it. That way, on a future delivery, i know they would come quick and not leaving me hanging.
    I will say $1.00

Good Chinese food delivery in The Hague?

Does anyone have the number of a good chinese restaurant in the hague that delivers?Good Chinese food delivery in The Hague?
I don't live in Den Haag, and there is a regular user who used to, so hopefully he may see this also and can help.

In the meantime, there are a couple of ways you can find numbers and importantly their customer reviews

The first is a site called IENS which is a review site (in English as well) about restaurants. It has a search function where you can search by cuisine and then tick a box for home delivery. http://www.iens.nl/zoek-een-restaurant/i鈥?/a> here's the result from the search. Click each of them and you can read the customer reviews (English if they have had English reviews and otherwise in Dutch) and a rating fugure.

The problem with the below is that it does not provide a menu or indeed confirm if it delivers to the same area of the Hague that you live in.

Therefore another good option is to order online (pay by cash at the door is still fine though) and there are two sites I know of

    http://www.thuisbezorgd.nl/

    http://www.justeat.nl/pages/frontpage.as鈥?/a>

Here you fill in your postcode, then it finds all the places that deliver to your area. Then you can filter on the cuisine you want. Each of them has stars beside the name which you can click, and it shows the rating for delivery time and the food itself, and then comments as well.

Hopefully this gives you some ideas in the meantime.

Do you think delivery chinese food is as good in China, as it is here?

I was just wondering.Do you think delivery chinese food is as good in China, as it is here?
i lived in China for a few years and the chinese food there is completely different (but good) than here. Here in the chinese restaurants its made to taste good for us "Westeners"....it has almost nothing to do with real chinese food. There are a few exceptions of course!
As good? Every person has different tastes. The Chinese food in America is very very different from the food in China. American-Chinese food is a new cuisine, and if Chinese people saw or ate the food, they would insist that it's nothing like Chinese food. The previous answerer is correct that their meat isn't as good, and many times they leave it on the bone, which is annoying.

You as an American (or Canadian) would probably think most of the Chinese food in China is nasty. You would find several dishes that you liked eventually, but the food here is made for different tastes, whereas the Chinese food in North America is made for American/Canadian tastes.Do you think delivery chinese food is as good in China, as it is here?
I would imagine - and hope- that Chinese food in China would be better
Of course not... China is a poor country, they don't have as much as they do in Canada

I don't know who booed my answer but if you ignore that then you are ignoring common sense, and I'm chinese by the way.Do you think delivery chinese food is as good in China, as it is here?
Are you from USA or Canada? If your from either then no, we have better meat then China.

Uh, there they just call it "food"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the chinese food u eat was made in New York City. Real chinese food doesnt taste like wat we order. Its a proven fact.
Food in China is sooooo different from what we consider Chinese food. Both are extremely good, but they are like comparing apples and oranges.

Im having trouble deciding how much to tip the chinese food delivery guy. We order from them every week. The bill comes out to $15.10, I later found out that they charge $1 on all delivery. Since the bill comes out to $15.10 I give him $18, but the thing is that guy always has a somewhat disappointed look on his face. I order from these people every week, and I dont what to piss them off. So how much is a reasonable tip? Thanks in advance.Tipping chinese food delivery?

I don't understand it! Why the **** are there so many asians in the chinese food buisness. Is there some connection between chinese food and asians? I am at a loss! Why is it that everytime I order chinese food the delivery guy is asian?
Mhmm, maybe because most Chinese food restaurants are owned by Chinese people. Chinese people are Asians...
there are asians in the chinese food buisness because chinese food comes from Asia. Chinese people come to China to make money here, they hire people who are also Chinese to deliver their food, or sometimes make their sons or daughters do it. Its because Chinese people are Asian. trays delivered.........tips are more for the server in a restaurant. A delivery person doesn't get 15%, why? Trust me $20 would be fine.
10% up to 20%. low for making the delivery; higher if the food is hot, well packaged, or other positive detailsHow much to tip on Chinese food delivery order of $400 for an event?
My father actually owns a resturant and sometimes people order lots of food for parties, events in church and houses. They usally tip from 30 - 50 dollars.
    maybe 2x the sales tax.
Think about the delivery person having to carry all this out to the car and then carry it in. It is still a ton of work so tip the delivery person 50 and you can carry the food in from the door.
Not only did the person carry your trays out to their car and up to your front door, they also probably helped to prepare them.

The minimum of 15% is the rock bottom you should tip. You should really consider 20%. Unless you really want to save money then you can drive to the restaurant and pick them up yourself.
    Yes.

If it is under 15 dollar I give $3.00 as a tip. Generally with food delivery you tip like you would at a restruant - 15 to 20 %. I tend to be generous in my tips.
for a tab totaling $12.10, give the guy at least $2.

What can I do with all of those packets of Duck Sauce that I get from the Chinese food delivery?

I don't want them to go to waste, and they keep sending me more. We don't really care for duck, but I'd like to have some good ideas on how to otherwise use them. What can I do with all of those packets of Duck Sauce that I get from the Chinese food delivery?
    Hoisin-Based Dipping Sauces

Hoisin’s main claim to fame comes from its being brushed on the Mandarin pancakes served with Peking Duck and Mu Shu Pork, two classic Beijing restaurant dishes.

As a dipping sauce, hoisin-based sauces can be used in place of plum sauce. In fact, plum sauce gets its nickname, “duck sauce” from the fact that westerners initially confused the two, believing plum sauce was served with Peking Duck.

Since hoisin sauce is quite thick, it is frequently thinned with a bit of water and/or sesame oil before serving. Other seasonings may include sugar, garlic, ginger and chili oil.

    Serve with:

    Chinese pancakes, steamed buns

Meat, particularly chicken and pork (I like to use it as a marinade for chicken thighs – the thighs are placed in a zipped-lock bag with the hoisin sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar and other seasonings, refrigerated and marinated for 2 hours).

Stir-fries, deep-fried food, grilled satays and noodles (Add during cooking or serve at the table)What can I do with all of those packets of Duck Sauce that I get from the Chinese food delivery?
Mix them into meat loaf and hamburgers and brush chicken with it before baking, it's delicious. What can I do with all of those packets of Duck Sauce that I get from the Chinese food delivery?
use the sauce as a flavouring for vegetable dishes.

How much should you tip a chinese food delivery guy?

In case the location matters, I live in the burbs on the outskirts of Toronto.

And does it depend on the value of the order? How much should you tip a chinese food delivery guy?
$3 should cover it..... If he wants to make more money then he needs a career change..... If 3 people and hour cough up $3 plus his wages his employer pays then he is doing just fine.......
the same as a pizza delivery guy?How much should you tip a chinese food delivery guy?
20%. More if the order is under $10.
No matter what the cost of the order, I tip 5.00How much should you tip a chinese food delivery guy?
i dont you pay enough for the food

How much should I tip the Chinese food delivery guy?

I ordered a small cup of soup, 8 pieces of sushi and a large smoothie. The total came to $12.87 with tax and delivery fee. The store is about a mile away, but my car is in the shop and I have trouble walking, otherwise I'd pick it up myself..

Is $4 a sufficient tip or is it too high/low?

Please answer quickly, he'll be here soon :)How much should I tip the Chinese food delivery guy?
$4 dollars is a great amount.he will be happy to deliver to you again.
For food delivery, you should tip 10% of the bill (excl. tax), at least $1 for bills up to $10. Should tip 15%-20% for a difficult delivery.

For your order, I would probably tip $1-2, depending on how quickly the food was delivered. How much should I tip the Chinese food delivery guy?
I feel that your tip was a $1.00 to much considering the size of your bill. If you were sitting at a table in the restaurant, then again depending on the size of the bill depends on what amount I would give. Not just being a driver because he/she are still getting paid by the hour.
I say yes. It'd help contribute to gas he'd have to give for it, and people usually jip those guys of tips. So, $4 bucks is doing great :)How much should I tip the Chinese food delivery guy?
    $4 is sufficient!
Sounds like a reasonable tip. P.S. watch your cat.
    $3 - 4 is fine.
    Try $4-5

That Should Be A Good Amount.

Anybody know of a good Chinese food delivery in Richmond BC?

Need suggestions for good Chinese food in Richmond BC. The place that we have ordered from for the past 15 yrs, which was excellent, has had a health board issue so it would be hard to try them again. They were great because they had no MSG. Any other ideas?Anybody know of a good Chinese food delivery in Richmond BC?
    Delivery? No. Pick-up? Yes.

    Cantonese:

    #9 Restaurant

    http://www.richmond9.com/

I highly suggest #29, the #9 special beef brisket soup with thin noodles. #87 is a great deal, the BBQ pork and regular BBQ pig are great. #254, the pork belly is awesome. #281 Chili beef is excellent. Get the buns fried, and order an extra. For the Western food, #346, the #9 club house is one of the best I've had - period. And funny enough, their best soup might actually be #390, the cream of corn with chicken.Anybody know of a good Chinese food delivery in Richmond BC?
Try the Golden Spot Cafe at No 5 Road %26amp; Bridgeport Road.

How much should you tip a Chinese food delivery man in NYC?

I usually order about $15 worth of food at night. Delivery guy use a bicycle, not a car. I also wonder if delivery man also get money from restaurant too.How much should you tip a Chinese food delivery man in NYC?
I tip depending on how far he has to go, and what the weather is like.

Also - I live up three flights of stairs, so I add a little extra for that too.

Round up the change from the bill and then add $2 - $3.

I generally don't tip on percentage of bill because it doesn't always have any relation to the delivery. But if I had a really big order and there were multiple bags, I would probably add another dollar for that.
you order every night, so a couple bucks a night is good enuf. How much should you tip a Chinese food delivery man in NYC?
tip him like you would a pizza guy. If it looks like it took a lot for him to get there, tip him more.
I think about 10% of your total is suitable. 10% of $15 is $1.50 but give more if you want. How much should you tip a Chinese food delivery man in NYC?
.20 cents for each dollar spent.
    $2.00
    I would tip him 5 dolla's.
However much you want really. xD
I usually tip about 10% of the order unless it's raining or snowing and then I'll throw in an extra dollar as the poor guy has had to go out in the lousy weather because I'm too lazy to cook or go our and he's doing all the work.
I would tip between 3-5 dollars. It's really not your problem if he rides a bike thats his choice.

The only time i tip a little more is in bad weather.
    Wait they delivery Chinese?
At least $3. $3 is 20%. You should call the restaurant and ask if there is a delivery charge and if the driver keeps the whole charge.
    Two Dollars is customary.

More if he is a regular.
I think a decent amount is 10 - 15%. Therfore tip him $2. Only if it arrives on time and they have sent the right meal!!
it's your money,so do whatever you feel is appropriate.

i'd usually give a buck or two cuz of my low income.
    30 dollars
I usually tip the chinese delivery guy about $20. Sometimes more cause i have 6 people in my family and our bill comes up to like $50.

South Africa Pizza and Chinese Food Delivery in South Africa?

I know that most South Africans live in homes thar are heavily guarded and have 11 foot fences and barbed wire, etc, so it will be very hard for the delivery man to reach the doorstep......so when you guys order pizza or Chinese Food, do you just meet them at the gate?

Do you guys have food delivery in South Africa?

Thank youSouth Africa Pizza and Chinese Food Delivery in South Africa?
South Africa has a very good fast food service system in place, you can phone Mr. Delivery and order fast food from different food vendors in your area of residence and have the full order promptly delivered like you find anywhere in the Western world.

Or, you can phone your fast food franchise and ask them to deliver(the majority do).

Where there is a high fence or wall there is normally an intercom system in place that will enable the delivery man to communicate with the home owners, all he needs to do is buzz on the intercom like any other visitor.

Crime is high in South Africa and there are those that have high fences or walls, but these are more common in affluent areas in Johannesburg and other big cities, but this is certainly not the standard in South Africa.
The delivery guy will just ring the bell and if he is legit you let him in or meet him at the gate. The delivery guys are really jacked, better than the US in my opinion and the food is better too. Mr Delivery for example lets you order from a variety of restaurants in your area https://www.mrdelivery.com/homepage.php

Obviously you are only going to open if you have ordered food and by the time they get to the gate (for my house at least but not in most cases) they have already been vetted by security guards and have had their pictures taken and their car license plate number written down. The food will still be hot though :-)

South Africa Pizza and Chinese Food Delivery in South Africa?
yes we do - but the delivery company's elephants tend to tramp over the 11 foot fences so sometimes that can be a problem - so you order delivery and then you pay for the food plus you have to pay to get the fence fixed. So delieverys can be quite expensive in SA - I also choose a delivery / take away outlet according to the transport they use. Horses are ok - but sometimes they leave huge piles of cr*p in the garden - I generally prefer those that deliver by ostrich - much faster and more reliable.
Hey don't worry about the one answer - as with all rumours they get blown out of all proportions just to make them more outragous! No we don't have 11ft fences. Of course you can get pizza or whatever delivered. Don't know where you will be going but they are really jacked at their delivery and can even sometimes do a delivery of all different from various places (eg 1 pizza, 1 chinese etc)South Africa Pizza and Chinese Food Delivery in South Africa?
This is another stupid question. You must not know very much about South Africa at all. Firstly in most towns it is illegal to have a fence higher than around 7 foot, I personally have never seen a house with an 11 foot wall.

When we order pizza the man comes and knocks on our door, we then open the door, let him in our house pay him and then let him out again.
There are delivery services in each town, and these dudes are well versed in all gate and security aspects. They just ring the bell, and the porter or gatekeeper will let them in. Simple ! And if there is no bell, well, then they hoot, or phone to say that they are in front of the house !!
we have delivery but most gates have an intercom which is used to communicate. delivery the ring the intercom and are bussed in in or met at the gate.
I don't have any those, just like many others who live here - so the delivery man just ring the bell - all he has to watch out for is my cat ... trying to get to the pizza first
    Ignorance is bliss....

Do you expect your Chinese food delivery guy to be asian?

You know I never really thought about it before but last time a caucasian guy delivered my Chinese food and for some reason I noticed more than I aught to have. So basically, do you expect your Chinese food delivery guy to be Chinese or of Asian decent? Also do you feel differently if the delivery person isn't asian? This might not make sense to anyone( since I couldn't find anythin on google) but it is something I noticed.Do you expect your Chinese food delivery guy to be asian?
So...you're disappointed if your Pizza Hut delivery guy isn't Italian?

Seriously, why does the ethnicity of your delivery guy matter?
One of our local pizza delivery guys is Chinese.

The closest Chinese place that that delivers hired a Mexican delivery guy.

The closest Indian place that delivers hired a caucasian delivery girl. Sometimes the owner will deliver himself and he's not an Indian. He told me he's from a small country next to Nepal and I never learn the country's name.

Personally, I don't care who delivered the food as long I get my foods in a timely fashion. :)Do you expect your Chinese food delivery guy to be asian?
Yes I do. Something about Asian cuisine demands authenticity. I know that only the chef really matters, but I get a sense of comfort when I see that the other employees are of the same heritage as the cuisine, though this effect is void in places where you can see the chefs working in the kitchen.
hahahaha yes, i do expect the chinese delivery dude to be asian. i dont really notice it, cause i expect it. but if it was someone not asian, i would definitely notice, but i don't feel differently if the delivery guy isn't asian. it's coolDo you expect your Chinese food delivery guy to be asian?
I do find it a bit odd that your delivery boy wasnt asian. I am weird about stuff like that. and its like whem youh order take out in the store theres not a caucasian in sight. I find it quite comical actually the more I think about it.
No as most Chinese restaurants are actually not owned by "authentic Chinese", they may look east asian but not necessarily Chinese, I would not expect my pizza to be delivered by an Italian it applies right across the board.
I was surprised whenever this beautiful Chinese girl would deliver to my house, I wanted to ask her if she was dessert.

But now I am married to a beautiful Chinese woman and I get dessert every night.
I think many Chinese restaurants are more family owned, employing relatives and friends.
no i dont, but i expect the staff who cook the food to be asian
    yeah sometimes
yes it needs to be some1 of asian descent
most of the Time yes.. And I always laugh
