ever since i was younger i always wondered! why do you tip pizza delivery people? you dont give tips to people at the counter when they hand you your pizza...and its not like they are a server because they dont clean up after you... but for some reason society makes you feel like you should (or at least where im from) and is it just pizza b/c i have never tipped a Chinese person (food wise)...
i do it but i was just wonder why?Wyhy do you tip pizza people?
that guy who said because they do not get gas money is an idiot. THEY DO GET GAS, and car and uniform from the employer. also they get salary. and their salary is INCLUDED in the pizza price. so when u pay for the pizza u re covering gas, their salary and the salary of the one who cooked pizza and the profit for the owner. so u already payed for that when paying for pizza and by tipping u re paying again. and thus making the life of an employer easier - instead of maybe paying more money from your pizza towards salary of a delivery boy he leaves it for his own profit
The tip is for the service they provide - delivery. Just like I tip the person who serves my food at a restaurant. You pay for the food and you tip for the service.
Have a great day!Wyhy do you tip pizza people?
Because they don't get gas money for delivering your food, it's a service, and I do tip Chinese food delivery drivers too. I'm not sure why you wouldn't. If people expect to get tipped and they don't sometimes they'll do nasty **** to your food the next time you order from them, too. That's another reason I always tip anybody who does somethin like that, cause they see my food before I do.
I don't believe in tipping too... Watch this scene from Reservoir dogs where Mr.Pink explains why he doesn't tip. I agree with him.

Delivered pizza is already too expensive without paying more. Pizza delivery companies provide bikes and petrol, so the wages are enough.
In many states in the US, food servers don't have to be paid minimum wage. It is perfectly legal to do so. They are dependent on tips. You are indeed paying for a service. The customer sits home in his nice comfortable Lazy Boy, watching TV. The delivery person goes out in the cold/heat/pouring rain/snow etc, attempting to deliver their meal in a timely manner. No, he probably does not get the gas paid for, at least not in my state. He's using his own car, putting extra miles on it, so that means he has to buy tires sooner %26amp; get the oil changed more often.
You don't tip at the counter because they are not giving you any extra sevice.
If people don't want to tip a delivery person, they should go get the pizza themselves.
Please refer to the website below for details... but allow me to quote from it...
Drivers perform a service by bringing dinner to your door. They take on financial costs and difficulties, more than most people realize. Pizza delivery is considered a hazardous job by the US government. They are third most likely to be murdered on the job, right after police officer and taxi driver.
The delivery charge is a separate fee that stays with the store and is not associated with the driver. Stores use it as a hidden cover charge to disguise lower advertised prices. The national chains keep the fee for themselves. They already compensated their drivers for gas before enacting the fee. Local independent stores might give the fee to the driver for gas or hourly wages but that is not part of the tip. Since the fee goes to the store, the tip is unaffected and should be calculated after the delivery charge.
=== I know these things to be absolutely TRUE and FACTUAL. I have worked 14 years for a national pizza chain, and all this is exactly what happened.
Oh, and you should consider beginning to tip the Chinese food delivery person, too. They are running the SAME risks and SAME expenses as the pizza delivery people.
Have a polite day.
Because it's the same people and I don't want spit on my food next time...
