Is This Too Much Of A Tip?

If I order some chinese food, it usually cost 16-17 dollars, I order 2 combo meals. So I just pay with a 20 and let the delivery man keep an extra three dollars.

Should I even tip the delivery man?Is This Too Much Of A Tip?
That's usually what I do, but if I have some extra cash on me I will give them a couple of extra dollars. It also depends if they are friendly or not. My husband and I literally stopped ordering from one Chinese food restraunt because the man who delivered it was so rude!
nope not to much i would consider more if the service was on time and good tasting!

Is This Too Much Of A Tip?
I don't think there is ever too much of a tip, if you can afford it and you like the service, tips are always appreciated and Im sure they like that you tip at all.

I think that amount is good.
It is completely appropriate.

Most delivery drivers of any sort earn mileage from whomever they work and LOW wages. Your tips actually allow them to have a modest income from delivering food for someone. Is This Too Much Of A Tip?
No thats perfect. Thats what I do
no, that's fine... like someone else said, a tip can never be too big BUT i for one don't overdo it. I know it's good to give but sometimes going to lunch with my co-workers they want to leave this humoungous tip that wasn't even really called for
I think that should about right (based on my understanding of the value of dollars)
I've always been one to tip when someone provides me any kind of service. Depending on the day and my money situation, I tip pretty fairly and sometimes I can be a little more generous.
It is considerd rude not to tip, so yes, you should tip.

If your meal costs you $17.00, and the general tipping minimum is 15% which is $2.55 of $17.00. So your total including tip should be no less than $19.55. I usually try to give more if i can.
Uh, yeah. You are right on. That's what I do, too. Gas costs are astronomical these days. That tip is crucial.

Besides, they're likely to remember you and give you better service.
Yes, you should tip the delivery man. This is delivery, not carry out. Don't you tip the pizza delivery guy? You are having food delivered to your door. How much time/money/effort did that save you? If you want to tip less, don't give him a $20 bill. If you order is $16 and you give him a $4 tip, that's a 25% tip and is too much unless you want to be generous.
You should give a tip. Remember you might order from them again. If you order every couple of weeks or so they start to remember you.

2 or three dollars is spot on. It is what is left on a 20. So you are not cheap or over tipping all at the same time.

If the guy shows up and is super cheerful I might leave a tad more. But other times.....

I always give something as I understand the job. But a month or so ago I ordered a bunch of pizzas from a local chain with which I had never had a problem. The guy who showed was so rude I was shocked. And I am a lifelong military guy with manners out of the butt and nothing much fazes me.

All I expect is a tad bit of politeness in a two minute transaction. Do not assume that you will get a tip. At least pretend to be nice as that is how you get tips.

I tipped zero on $150. When I ordered next I asked for a different guy. Turned out he had been fired.

But yea.... under normal circumstances you should spot the delivery guy that 3 dollars or so as it is the right thing to do. If you do you get better treatment later. If I order from that pizza place or the chinese place things come fast and the food is ten times better.
That seems like an okay tip.
Why would you NOT tip the delivery man? He drove in his car and spent his gas to bring you food. You could have gotten in your car to pick it up if you don't like tipping.

The tip you gave was perfect.
That's about right. I would give them the 20 and tell them to keep the change.
I always tip the delivery person. But usually depending on your total, $2-$3 dollars is a normal tip.
